The train from Munich (leaves at 8:28 h and arrives at 10:19 h in Oberammergau), by car: parking at the train station directly or on my street (In der Breitenau) for free.

3 to 3,5 hours light hike in Oberammergau on the Altherren Weg, easy, not really uphill.

14:00 or 14:30 h return to Oberammergau to explore the village and have a late lunch or coffee & cake.

Louis Vuitton-Polish artist Wilhelm Sasnal (*1972 in Krakow) (05 May 2026)

We are super happy to be invited again to a free exclusive tour to the exhibition WILHELM SASNAL, which will be presented at Espace Louis Vuitton Munich from April 24th to September 13th, 2026. Our dates for the tour are 05th May 2026 and 08th Sept. 2026 at 6pm. The solo exhibition is dedicated to the Polish artist Wilhelm Sasnal (*1972 in Krakow) and showcases works from the collection as part of the Hors-les-murs program of the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Wilhelm Sasnal works both as a painter and with the media of photography, film and video, as well as the comic novel. The subjects of his works are often the everyday, historical figures, views of Krakow, but also significant moments in the lives of his friends and family. Sasnal's paintings are characterized by various degrees of distortion, simplification, and abstraction. The starting point for his work is often photographic imagery, which he draws from films or pop culture. He also frequently uses photographs taken with his mobile phone or reproductions of artworks as references.

As always on these tours, we will be given a brief introduction to the Louis Vuitton foundation, which has exhibition spaces throughout this world, and is in exciting venues.A sneak preview of the foundation in Paris here: Fondation Louis Vuitton. Friends and Family welcome!

Middle Walk along the Isar

Our walk will last about 1.5 hours , and afterward, you’re warmly invited to join us for lunch at Alter Wirt, a charming restaurant. If the weather allows, we can enjoy their lovely beer garden.

To confirm if the walk is taking place, please check the Sunday before the scheduled date, as cancellations may occur.

We are pleased to offer a special excursion to Faber-Castell, one of the world’s most renowned and historic manufacturers of writing and art supplies. After the train ride to Stein, we have lunch at the Schlossstueberl, providing an opportunity to relax and enjoy a meal together. You also have the opportunity to browse the Visitor Center, where Faber-Castell’s entire product range for writing, drawing, and creative design is presented. This is followed by a two-hour guided factory tour in English, offering fascinating insights into the production of high-quality pencils, colored pencils, and writing instruments. We’re looking forward to welcoming you on this very special and fun tour.

Mind The Culture Gap - Joan Stewart

Let’s have a little fun talking about cultural differences, especially in terms of communication. I’ll share some tools, frameworks and examples that may help you better understand interactions you’ve had in the past, and prepare you for smoother intercultural interactions in the future. Several members have expressed an interest to me in learning more about Japanese culture, so many Japanese examples and cultural tips will be included.

Joan Stewart is an Intercultural Trainer and Consultant with more than thirty years of international experience. She has designed and facilitated cross-cultural training and global workforce development programs for corporate clients in a variety of industries in Asia, Europe and North America. She has also provided intercultural coaching and communication skills training for individuals, schools and non-profit organizations in these regions. In addition to her intercultural work and living experience, Joan has a B.A. degree in Psychology and a master's degree in International and Intercultural Management.

Munich Martkthalle Tour in English (20 May 2026)

“Munich City Wholesale Market:” More than 100 years old with over 2000 employees, the 310,000m2 Wholesale Market of Munich can be only visited with an official guide. MIWC will have a private tour in English of the market halls, where goods from all over the world are sold exclusively to merchants. With its large selection of regional and exotic foods, the Großmarkthalle München has been one of the largest in all of Europe since 1912. Although it is called the belly of Munich, traders from Tyrol to Aschaffenburg also shop here early in the mornings - from small fruit traders to large delicatessens such as Dallmayr. The Markthalle supplies the region of 5 million people and delivers to almost every European country. Registrations start Sunday, March 22!

When minimum limit is not reached, this event will be opened to family and friends by May 1st.

Evening English Book Club

Welcome to the Evening Book Group! We meet one evening a month from 19:00 - 21:00 to discuss a book we have previously chosen that meets our criteria of relating to “cross-cultural” topics. That is a wide definition that encompasses national cultures, caste, gender, lifestyle or anything else the group accepts as exploring the cultural aspects of a particular group. We will decide each month’s book at the meeting in the preceding month.

We will meet at members' homes on a rotating basis. There will be a limit of 10 participants each month to allow for better discussion and so that more members will have a chance to host in their homes.

We will also meet on Zoom
